Vice President Nangolo Mbumba emphasised the important role that exhibitions such as this play in promoting cultural heritage and driving economic activity.
The expo, he added, serves as a valuable platform for businesses to showcase their goods and services, fostering opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange.
Mbumba says that in a world where cultural heritage is being overtaken by western culture, it is a good platform to learn about various totems and the values associated with them.
''Knowing which Totem we belong to is very important, as it gives us a sense of belonging in our African communities. Additionally, Namibia is a blessed nation with diverse cultures that come together to build harmonious co-existence as one people and one nation. Hosting this event is based on the fact that entrepreneurship opportunities are created when entrepreneurs are connecting with potential customers, partners, and investors.''
Oshana Governor Elia Irimari says the expo has become a blueprint for the promotion and revival of cultural norms and values and exposes exhibitors to opportunities for value addition to their businesses and increased profit margins.
''In pursuit of our lost norms and values usually attached to the cultural identity of our people, Oshakati Town Council has gone a mile further to choose totems as a stepping stone towards restoring cultural identity in our society through the totem exposition event. ''
The expo ends on Sunday.
