The National Unity Democratic Party (NUDO) has reminded its leadership and members that the party has developed a guiding document known as Procedures for Conducting Internal Primaries and Elections.
This document still has to be endorsed by the structures of the party.
The party's vice president, Peter Kazongominja, said at a media briefing that anyone planning to run for any position should wait with their campaigns until after the endorsement of the document for internal campaigns.
The party's secretary general, Joseph Kauandenge, already announced his presidential hopes last week.
But Vice President Kazongominja said the document for internal campaigns must first be launched by the National Council for party members to start their campaigns in accordance with the party constitution and the document.
"In accordance with Party Constitution provisions the office of the secretary general will issue formal notices withing prescribed periods. Therefore we would inform all party members with specific refence to eligible delegates of both meeting to patiently prepare accordingly."
He called on party members to remain calm, as all matters pertaining to the 2024 Presidential and National Assembly elections and internal party contests will be dealt with by the Party National Executive and National Council meetings set for January 26 and 27, respectively.
