Tsandi Village Council's Chief Executive Officer, Kephas Haitembu, is calling on the private and public sectors to invest in the local authority to boost the domestic economy.

Speaking to nbc News, Haitembu said the council has already incorporated plots for education, health institutions, and industrial development into its future plans.

The young and vibrant village council, he says, has good prospects as it is strategically located with its unique yet unexplored potential for investment initiatives.

"Tsandi is still open for everything, as you know that we don't have banking institutions like community banks, and we are inviting and encouraging the investors who want to come and put infrastructure development within our local authority so that they can be able to invest and also create job opportunities for our people."

The council has also prioritised food production for both animal and human consumption.

They have thus reserved 20 hectares of land at extension 11 for urban agriculture to contribute to food security and reduce hunger and dependency on imported food items.

"The reason why the council came up with this idea is simply that we have got oxidation, which we had overflowing some years ago, and the council came up with the initiative that we should establish a treatment plant that will treat water to the standard that it will be used for irrigation purposes, so those 20 hectors are the start of the first phase and are reserved for those specific activities."

Tsandi Village Council has also extended an invitation to government institutions to set up offices there to bring government services closer to the people.

That local authority has also started with the construction of the Tsandi open market, which is currently in phase two, and should they secure enough funds, it will be completed either in 2024 or early 2025.

"Yes, off-course, maintenance of streets is still ongoing with the assistance of capital funds from the Road Fund Administration, and we anticipate that at least by 2025, some of our streets, especially the main ones, which are run from the main road to the hospital and the road to the police station, will be upgraded to bitumen standard."
