Elias Amxab Combined School to receive new classrooms

The government will construct four classrooms at Elias Amxab Combined School in Sesfontein.

Situated in one of the deepest parts of the Kunene Region, Sesfontein, Elias Amxab Combined School has 815 learners.

The school looked much better compared to our last visit.

Education, Arts, and Culture Minister Anna Nghipondoka encouraged teachers and learners to continue with teaching and learning despite the circumstances.

For the six groups of classes that are currently being taught outside, the government will construct four classrooms.

MPs call for increased education funding to match private school standards

Members of Parliament in the National Assembly have called on the government to allocate ample resources to the education sector to foster excellence on par with private schools.

Members in this regard also expressed concern about the revised curriculum, noting its failure to accommodate everyone.

PDM's Charmaine Tjirare advocated for the removal of the new curriculum, urging the government to reconsider previous successful approaches that yielded positive results for students.

2023 examination results improve by 3.2%

The number of school-leavers who qualify for admission at institutions of higher learning has increased by 3.2%.

The Minister of Education, Arts, and Culture, Anna Nghipondoka, announced the Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary (NSSCO) and Advanced Subsidiary Levels (NSSCAS) results this morning.

The 3.2% is a notable improvement after the poor 2022 results.

At the NSSCO full-time level, 29.4%, comprising 11,970 candidates, have secured 25 points or above in five subjects, resulting in a 14.1% improvement from 2022.

Private and public sectors invited to invest in Tsandi

Tsandi Village Council's Chief Executive Officer, Kephas Haitembu, is calling on the private and public sectors to invest in the local authority to boost the domestic economy.

Speaking to nbc News, Haitembu said the council has already incorporated plots for education, health institutions, and industrial development into its future plans.

Marginalised youth urged to prioritise education

The Deputy Minister of Marginalised Communities Royal |Ui|o|oo has encouraged marginalised youth to prioritise education if they are to take up leadership positions.

|Ui|o|oo was speaking at the workshop of the elected leaders of the Indigenous Marginalised Youth Organisation of Namibia (IMYON).

The training is for representatives from all regions and is aimed at empowering them with the knowledge and skills needed to fulfil their roles.

Youth in Kavango regions discuss education transformation

Youth in the two Kavango regions attended a one-day workshop on transforming education in Namibia at Rundu.

The aim was to form a youth-led movement to transform education.

The workshop was born after the New York Summit last year, where young people put together their demands and what they want their governments and UN member states to do to address the global learning crisis.

The summit was convened in response to the global learning crisis to ensure that learning is equitable, accessible, and quality for each child globally.
