The Speaker of the National Assembly, Professor Peter Katjavivi, welcomed a courtesy visit from a delegation of the Swedish Parliament, reinforcing Namibia's longstanding and cordial relations with Sweden in various sectors.

Katjavivi described the visit as an important platform for engaging, exchanging perspectives, and acknowledging the historical support provided by Nordic countries during Namibia’s liberation struggle, particularly in healthcare, education, and humanitarian aid.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two parliamentary institutions to enhance legislative systems and governance.

Head of the Swedish delegation, Boriana Åberg, reaffirmed the strong ties between the two nations, stating that free and fair elections are the cornerstone of democracy.

She also noted the similarities in the democratic structures of both countries and commended Namibia’s commitment to inclusive governance and gender diversity within its Parliament.
