The Chief Manasse Zeraua of the Zeraua Traditional Authorities says communities residing in mining areas ought to fully benefit from such resources.
He was speaking when he received equipment donations on behalf of a local school and conservancies courtesy of Farpoint Investment Mine at Omatjete.
Chief Zeraua stressed that mines need to set up community projects to address unemployment in the areas of their operation.
"Our request is that, while we are currently providing this project and equipment to the community, in the near future, we should embark on projects that will remove the needle. meaning projects that contribute to the livelihood of our people, projects that would address unemployment."
The equipment was donated to three conservancies and Ozondati Primary School, as well as the traditional authority office.
"We very much appreciate your kind donation that will eventually benefit our community and our people, as well as our office, and I always encourage the beneficiaries to please look after your items."
Farpoint Investment Mine spends over N$126 000 on car shades, school copy printer machines, solar lights, and bicycles.
A teacher at Ozondati Primary School, Ebenise Vezeruapi, appreciated the donation, urging more friends of education to assist in building them an office block.
Ohungu Conservancy Chairperson Benedictus April said the bicycle donations will ease the transport of the game guards.
