The Onaihomo Irrigation project in the Oshana region continues to yield positive results for its beneficiaries.
 
The project received agricultural implements and equipment from the Office of the Oshana Governor. 
 
 The garden, which has so far employed six people, has benefited from a donation of various gardening equipment such as drip irrigation systems and gardening tools, amongst others.
 
Wilbard Iipumbu, the founder of the Naihomo irrigation project, said the donation has assisted in accelerating the project's growth, enabling expansion and value addition.
 
He thanked the government for its support, saying he has plans to expand the project beyond the parameters of his home to enable large-scale food production and create more job opportunities.
 
“I am planning to employ 16 from our community, adding to the six that I am having here. So I will have 21 workers that can also get something, help at home, or get the knowledge of planting and pass it to siblings, and they start doing their small garden at home also; that's how we want it to go to be on a chain.”

The Oshana Governor, Hofni Iipinge, said the region is well on track in addressing unemployment as well as ensuring that the region will start producing food for its people and visitors alike.

He noted that the region is aligning with the 8th Administration's priority areas, calling for more support from donors in order to uplift economic development across all economic sectors.
 
 “Just like I said, I don't want my region to be fed by other neighbouring regions anymore, so enough is enough. Oshana has to raise and produce its own food. So here we are producing our own food.”
  
The irrigation project is currently in its fourth year and is harvesting cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and other vegetables.
