Namibia continues to be a benchmarking platform for African countries on road infrastructure.

The latest country to visit the Namibia Road Authority is Sierra Leone.

Namibia has been scooping the World Economic Forum's African road quality award for the past five consecutive years, being voted the number one on the continent as far as road infrastructure is concerned.

This has seen a number of African countries come to benchmark and learn best practices here.

The Sierra Leone delegation, which includes the Minister of Works and Public Assets, Dr. Denis Sandy, is in Namibia for a week-long working visit.

Some of the practices that they plan to implement in Sierra Leone include the implementation of the Road Management System, which they say has worked well for Namibia.

The Namibian officials, representing different stakeholders in the road management sector, say they felt challenged to continue improving the road infrastructure in the country.

The Sierra Leone delegation will also visit the dual carriageway road between Windhoek and Okahandja.

In August last year, a Ugandan transportation delegation also visited Namibia to benchmark road infrastructure.
