The Namibia National Futsal team has successfully secured their place in the 2024 AFCON tournament in Morocco by defeating Tanzania in the second leg of the AFCON Qualifiers. The match, held at the Starlight Futsal Arena in Tanzania on Friday night, saw Namibia earning six points compared to Tanzania's three.
This historic qualification marks the first time that Namibia's National team, known as the "Brave's5," will participate in the prestigious tournament. The AFCON tournament, which will feature the participation of eight countries, is scheduled to take place from April 8th to April 17th in Morocco.
The Qualification ties were played on a home-and-away two-legged basis. Despite a previous loss to Tanzania in Windhoek, where the Brave's5 scored five points to Tanzania's two, the team displayed resilience and determination to secure their spot in the AFCON competition.
Coach Donald Modise expressed his delight about the team's victory, while chairperson Adre' Tirtirau mentioned that the team will have a week of rest before commencing their training to prepare for AFCON. Celebrating their achievements, the players and the technical team embraced each other and sang, demonstrating their unity and joy.
The team is expected to arrive on Monday, ready to make their mark in the upcoming AFCON tournament.
