Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has expressed her appreciation for the support shown by different governments towards Namibia and its people after the passing of President Geingob.

"I wish to thank you for standing in solidarity with the government and the people of the Republic of Namibia, and for the outpouring of love and support, as well as the comforting messages of condolences we have received from your respective governments and organisations."

She urged international dignitaries who wish to attend the state funeral of the late president to confirm by February 20th.

"I wish to inform you that provision is made for tributes by heads of state or government during the State Memorial Service, only. While we appreciate that it is difficult to capture the magnitude of the impact,
that the departed president had on so many people within the time span of the memorial service, we humbly advise, in light of time constraints, that tributes be limited to 3 minutes. During the state burial, heads of state and government will be accorded the opportunity to participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the grave site. Wreaths will be provided for by the government of the Republic of Namibia."
