The procession of the late President Hage Geingob is expected this Friday afternoon.

During a briefing at the Government Information Centre, Brigadier General Remigius Kalimba and Minister of Information and Communication Technology Emma Theofelus shared details about the upcoming state funeral and memorial services.

The procession will start at State House, moving through Laurent Desire Kabila Street into Robert Mugabe Avenue.

It will continue along Jan Jonker Street, Rehobother Road, and David Meroro Road, heading westward to intersect with Hendrik Witbooi Drive.

Progressing through Moses ||Garoeb Street, it will then merge with Winnie Madikizela Mandela Road, proceeding to Independence Avenue, Sam Nujoma, and concluding at Casa Rosalia before heading to Parliament Gardens.

He emphasised the importance of public participation, urging citizens to pay their respects at Parliament Gardens, where the late president's body will be displayed.

The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, conveyed the Prime Minister's directive, mandating non-emergency staff to work until ten o'clock on Friday, allowing public servants to participate in the ceremonial route procession.

Notably, the Minister of Home Affairs exempted journalists from visa and work permit requirements until February 27th for coverage of the funeral services.

Some countries have also made contributions to the cause.

"The government of Namibia is grateful for the support from its sister countries of Angola and Botswana. The government and Republic of Angola donated 20 cars and 45 cars and motorbikes from the People's Republic of China for the funeral services."

The Minister specified that vendors have been granted permission to sell goods at designated points during the memorial service, except for the sale of alcohol around the Independent Stadium vicinity, which is strictly prohibited by law enforcement agencies.

One thousand Namibian Defence Force troops are mobilised for the event, and there will be temporary road closures during the event to ensure a smooth and respectful experience.

The nation is advised to be aware of the affected routes starting tomorrow, spanning the duration of the state funeral.

Those who wish to witness the procession are advised not to follow it but to stand still along the routes.
