President Nangolo Mbumba says as Namibia plans to develop its oil and gas industry, the country will benchmark Angola.
President Mbumba concluded his one-day official visit to Angola with a tour of Sonangol Integrated Logistic Services (SONILS) at the Port of Luanda, where he familiarised himself with operations.
SONILS is the appointed terminal operator for the concession between Angola's state oil company, Sonangol EP, and the Port of Luanda EP.
The concession is for the use of port areas and the development of an oil and gas services centre as well as a logistics base.
With its strategic location and more than 20 years of operations, the company provides cargo handling services, engineering, development, and leasing of specialised oil and gas facilities to the oil and gas industries.
President Mbumba toured the facilities, including offices, warehouses, pipe yards, and chemical and radioactive storage facilities.
Sonangol, Namcor, and Namport entered into an agreement two years ago to establish an integrated logistics base in Namibia, similar to the one in SONILS.
The initiative, if fully realised, intends to support the development of the oil and gas industries in Namibia.
SONILS has a clientele of more than 100 companies, of which international oil giant Total Energies is the anchor tenant with operations in every port area.
It is currently constructing on more than 76,000 square metres of land to centralise the hosting of its operations onsite.
