President Nangolo Mbumba and his Botswana counterpart, Mokgweetsi Masisi, have directed their officials responsible for international relations to propose a date for the second Bi-National Commission meeting.
President Mbumba paid a courtesy call on his Botswana counterpart, Mokgweetsi Masisi, ahead of a memorial service held in honour of the late President Dr. Hage Geingob on Wednesday.
Namibia and Botswana held their inaugural Bi-National Commission meeting in 2022, during which it was agreed that the meeting would be held every two years.
Dr. Mbumba also used the opportunity as an introductory occasion as the 4th President of Namibia and emphasised that a number of joint projects are still outstanding.
President Masisi says that Botswana shares Namibia's grief over the loss of its third President, given the ties that the late Dr. Geingob had with the neighbouring country.
He further applauded President Mbumba's humility, through which he held the nation and SADC at large together during the difficult period.
The Namibian delegation returned to Windhoek following the service, which widely memorialized the legacy of the late President Geingob.
