President Nangolo Mbumba has credited the late President Hage Geingob for the increased female representation in Parliament and the executive arm of government and for providing astute leadership at a time when the country needed it most.
"His Excellency Dr. Hage G. Geingob will be remembered for, amongst other things, providing astute leadership at a time when our country needed it most. Under his leadership, the principles of accountability and transparency were entrenched in our governance architecture. Similarly, women and young people were appointed to senior leadership positions. Due to his efforts, Namibia has achieved the highest female representation in Parliament at 50% and 41% in the Executive. Under difficult economic conditions, President Geingob strengthened Social Safety Nets."
