The government and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) have embarked on a journey to close the gap between disadvantaged and advantaged communities.
The two parties held a workshop to deliberate on ways to address the plight of vulnerable children, communities, and people with disabilities.
UNICEF and various government ministries have been working together to develop and formulate a five year programme of cooperation, namely the Country Document programme.
The programme is envisioned for 2025–2029 and has been developed with guidance from the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
This is aligned with the National Development Plans, Harambee Prosperity Plan, and Vision 2030.
The UN Resident Coordinator, Hopolang Phororo, says efforts are being made to meet the 16 Sustainable Development Goals.
"The agencies are developing their country, we are also in the process of developing our corporate framework for 2025–2029, and what is interesting about where we are at this juncture is that the National Planning Commission is also working with other government ministries on the National Development Plan number six."
"Even in countries like Namibia, like other countries in the world, there are always groups that are quicker, more easily reachable, and for other groups, it is a bit of a paradox of economic growth to continue having social inclusion, and we know that you are working very hard with the investments that you make in getting the ones behind included in the big mass and to create a mass of people that are included. Inclusive growth and an inclusive society."
