The Namibia Broadcasting Corporation's executive management is on a fact-finding mission in ||Kharas Region to explore the possibilities of hosting both the 2024 Miss Namibia and Miss Teen pageants at Luderitz.
The executive management, led by nbc's Chief News and Programming Officer Menesia Muinjo, met with the Luderitz Waterfront Development Company management as well as the Luderitz business community to deliberate the possibility of hosting the national beauty pageants there.
The meeting came against the backdrop of an expression of interest by the Luderitz Waterfront Development Company to host the prestigious event.
Muinjo reiterated the main objective of the national beauty contests, which is to develop the girl child.
"The main thing behind the organising, as you may know, is to grow the Namibian girl child, so the local community here, businesses, everybody else, if you get involved, you are actually developing a young Namibian child in so many ways, not only her look and feel when she walks that ramp but her mental and intellectual capacity, the articulation, the representation, to be able to market what is here."
LWDC's CEO, Fluksman Samuehl, says the harbour town has the capacity to host the event.
The Luderitz Old Power Station transformed into a multi-facilities waterfront, has been suggested as a venue for the hosting of the beauty contests.
Local captains of business and public enterprises expressed their commitment to supporting both contests.
The nbc has full ownership of the Miss Namibia brand.
