||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick has urged stakeholders, especially political parties, to contribute to peaceful Presidential and National Assembly elections in November.

Equally, she reminded the officials of the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) to conduct themselves professionally during the elections.

Frederick made a call during the Electoral Commission of Namibia stakeholder engagement at Keetmanshoop, where an electoral calendar for the November general elections was presented.

Supervisors of elections appointed in all seven constituencies in the ||Kharas Region were also formally introduced to stakeholders.

"It is very imperative for us to look at our way of doing things and our behaviour to make sure that at all times we are professional; we should not show that we have some interest. But also for the stakeholders, we conduct ourselves in a manner that does not provoke any chaos or unnecessary quarrelling amongst ourselves because we are in a free, independent Namibia that gives us the opportunity to make our own choices. So if we don't speak the same language or don't support the same political party, it does not mean we are enemies; we are given the opportunity as Namibians just to practice our democratic rights. That should not make us forget that we are actually family after the elections are over."

The general registration of voters will commence from the 3rd of June to August, while the provisional voter registration roll will be open for public scrutiny and objection from August 29 to September 4th.
