The Namibia Rugby Union says they will look to give local coaches the opportunity to coach the national rugby team in 2025.

Current national rugby team coach Allister Coetzee's contract is coming to an end this year, paving the way for a new coach in 2025. Coetzee is a South African rugby union coach and former player, currently in charge of the Namibian national team on a part-time basis, whilst also being the head coach of the rugby club Rovigo in Italy.

Before his Namibian appointment in 2021, Coetzee had a strenuous time as the head of the Springboks from 2016 to 2017 before being sacked early in 2018.

After almost three years at the helm of the Namibian rugby team, Coetzee's contract will come to an end at the end of this year.

With the dates looming, the Namibia Rugby Union said they will be looking to give a chance to a local coach to replace him.
