Namibia's senior national football team, the Brave Warriors, has begun preparations for the 2024 Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup.
This year will mark the 23rd edition of the regional competition, which is set to take place from June 26-7 July, 2024, in Gqeberha, South Africa. Namibia is in Group C alongside Angola, Lesotho, and the Seychelles.
The Brave Warriors kicked off their preparations today, gearing up to compete for top honours in the regional competition.
Coach Collin Benjamin described their group matches as tricky encounters, acknowledging the capabilities of all their opponents.
The coach also spoke about his training squad in camp, which consists mainly of local-based players with one notable addition, the in-form striker George Frans from Khomas Nampol.
Eeshoke Chula chula's Moses Shidolo and South African based club Sekhukhune FC's Edmar Kamatuka, both midfielders, shared their thoughts on the team's preparations for the COSAFA Cup.
They expressed their hope of making it to the final 23-man squad.
Namibia will be aiming to improve on their performances at the last two COSAFA Cups, having been eliminated in the group stages in 2023 and narrowly losing to seven-time champions Zambia in the 2022 finals.
Namibia will face Angola on 28 of June, Lesotho on the first of July and Seychelles third of the same month.
