South Africa was crowned back-to-back champions at the African Federation Region South Karate Championships in Swakopmund last weekend.
South Africa defended their title by emerging as the overall winners of the African Federation Region South games which took place in Swakopmund.
The rainbow nation claimed 99 medals, scooping 42 Gold, 25 Silver and 32 Bronze in both men and women categories. Despite winning more medals (106) overall, the host nation Namibia trailed behind them with 21 gold, 27 silver and 58 bronze medals.
Botswana came in third with 39 medals, 11 Gold, 13 Silver and 15 bronze.
Angola, in fourth place, had a total medal tally of 23, securing 7 gold, 8 Silver and 8 bronze while Mozambique managed to grab only 2 medals: a gold and a silver.
Zimbabwe only managed one gold medal in the Region South Competition. Zambia's total of 8 medals included 4 silver and 4 bronze. The African Federation Region South Karate tournament kicked off on Friday afternoon at the Dome in Swakopmund.
