The African Table Tennis Federation is hosting the African Youth Championships in Gaborone, Botswana, with 19 countries represented.

Over 118 players from 19 countries have assembled at the Botho University in Gaborone, Botswana, for the tournament.

Namibia has dispatched eight delegates, consisting of four Under-15 Girls and four Under-15 Boys to the event.

Out of five Namibian teams that competed in today's Under-15 mixed doubles, only one managed to clinch victory against Zimbabwe and Benin by 3 sets to 1, qualifying for the round of 16.

The Development Officer of the Namibia Table Tennis Association, Theo Beukus, gave his insight on how Namibia has performed so far at the competition and the team that qualified for the round of 16.

Ten countries are participating in the girls' division and nine countries in the boys' division.

For the first time in 12 years, the African Youth Championships included 17 countries from the Southern African region.

Egypt and Tunisia are seen as tournament favorites alongside South Africa for top honors.

The seven-day tournament started on July 15 and is set to end on July 21.
