The 3rd edition of the Namibia Youth Games was launched at the Oshakati Guest House in the Oshana region over the weekend.

The Games are scheduled for September this year.

Since its inception in 2018 with the first edition of the Namibia Youth Games, the Namibia Sport Commission in collaboration with the Ministry of Sport, Youth & National Service has provided a platform and opportunity for Namibian athletes to advance their careers in sports.

This year, over 2600 athletes and coaches are expected to participate in the 3rd edition of the Games, which will take place in Oshakati, Ongwediva, and Ondangwa due to the availability of various sports facilities.

All participating regions are urged to complete their trials promptly to avoid delays in September.

Speaking at the launch on behalf of Minister Agnes Tjongarero, Director of Sport Development Jo-Ann Manuel emphasized the significance of the Games.
Meanwhile, at the same event, Oshana regional Governor Elia Irimari highlighted the importance of unity in sports as he welcomed the upcoming Youth Games to the region.

Lastly, Freddy Mwiya, Chief Administrator of the Namibia Sport Commission, commended the local organizing committee in the region for ensuring readiness ahead of the Games.

The 3rd edition of the Namibia Youth Games is scheduled to take place from September 11th to 14th, 2024, in the Oshana region.
