The match kicked off with host UNAM opening the scoring through scrumhalf AJ Kearns to take a 7-0 lead. The travellers then responded with hooker Jarren Koning crashing over, but fullback Kyle Wentzel missed the conversion. 

With a two-point lead, the hosts sent centre Alicino Isaacs over for their second try. 

As the break approached, Kudus saw speedy winger Aston Mukwiilongo score their second try. Again, Wentzel's conversion was unsuccessful, but he added three points with a penalty for a one-point difference at halftime, UNAM 14, Kudus 13. 

In the second half, host UNAM extended their lead with a penalty conversion from fullback AJ Zaal. UNAM wasn't done, as backline player of the match Kearns scored his second try, while Isaacs also crossed the line despite talisman Rachano van Rooi receiving a yellow card. Meanwhile, the boys in blue could only add an additional 10 points to their tally with a penalty conversion and their final try from centre Suramie Kambombo.
