The Okahandja municipality is embarking on a number of projects to improve service delivery.

Among the projects are the construction of a fire station, the consolidation of plots 117 and 118, developing agricultural plots for the residents, and the Okahandja Medi Park.

Currently, 2,070 houses were completed at Osona Village, with many more planned for the residential area on the outskirts of Okahandja.

The Council has also approved to allocate 150 erven to the National Housing Enterprise to construct affordable houses at Extension 10.

During the 2023/2024 financial year, the council repaired and surfaced roads and constructed a connecting road in Extension 9, which boosted local economic activities and facilitated a smoother transportation of goods and services.

The Okahandja Mayor, Beatrice Kotungondo, indicated that to speed up the process of land surveying, re-blocking, and servicing projects, some residents of Okahandja contributed N$165 per household, which is currently standing at N$207,000.

The council is, however, faced with financial constraints and still needs funds to decommission the dump site, upgrade the sewer and water network, and revive the water reservoir at Extension 6 to boost the water supply.
