The distribution of the San Feeding programme remains a major challenge due to transport-related delays.

Tsumkwe Constituency Councillor, Johannes Hausiku, says the situation demands prompt response for the beneficiaries to continue getting food.

Hausiku revealed in an interview with nbc News that the transport problem can be resolved by using a storage facility at an agricultural farm about 10 kilometres outside Tsumkwe.

Hausiku suggested that the San Feeding and the Drought Relief programmes should be combined to address transport logistical delays and deliver food to people on time.

"Yes, of course, the food is delayed. As I understand it, in the whole Otjozondjupa Region we have only three trucks, and these tracks are the ones transporting drought relief, and they are the ones transporting the San Feeding programme. When they are busy transporting drought relief, the San Feeding programme idles until they are done, which is when they can also assist the San Feeding programme."

He observes that the majority of the San community is not registered to benefit from the programme and wants them to benefit regardless.

Hausiku says his office has the capacity to administer the food distribution process efficiently to ensure that the food is not sold by the beneficiaries. 

Otjozondjupa Governor, James Uerikua, urged the Division of the Marginalised Communities to make the San Feeding programme a monthly arrangement.

"Bring back the San Feeding programme to provide monthly food rations as it was before people were depended on that. That is the only lifeline we have. Number two, we requested that the drought relief and the San Feeding programmes be merged for us to avoid duplication. We understand that it is still at Cabinet level, and it will come."

The San Feeding programme is part of the government's social safety net initiatives, which provide food assistance to marginalised communities.
