Oshikoto Police Regional Commander Theopolina Kalompo-Nashikaku says as the commemoration of Heroes Day on the 26th of August fast approaches, the police are ready to enforce law and order.
Commissioner Kalompo-Nashikaku says several patrols have already been launched to ensure the safety of the members of the public as well as their properties.
All roads in the 14 regions lead to Omuthiya, the capital town of the Oshikoto Region, for the commemoration of Heroes Day, where Namibians are set to unite and give a befitting salute to the country’s heroes and heroines.
As the town begins to slowly fill up, the influx can also lead to opportunities and targets for criminals who want to use the opportunity to launch their attacks and make a quick buck.
However, Kalompo-Nashikaku, the region’s top cop, says they are on the ground and will not allow any criminals to thrive off the people visiting or residents of the region at large.
The region’s top cop indicated that no officers would be left to relax and that all had been commanded to put their boots on the ground.
Namibians attending the commemoration are cautioned not to carry any weapons or sharp objects, as they will not be allowed to enter the Omuthiya Recreational Park, where the commemoration will take place.
