Notable Namibians, including the Deputy Prime Minister, John Mutorwa, were conferred national honours, during the investiture ceremony at State House.

President Nangolo Mbumba conferred the awards on the honorees.

The honorees were awarded for their contributions to the liberation, socio-economic development, and promotion of peace and justice in Namibia.

These are in the fields of political, military, diplomatic, humanitarian, education, health, and business activities.

Deputy Prime Minister Mutorwa and diplomat Advocate Bience Gawa!nas were awarded the Most Brilliant Order of the Sun, first class, for their distinguished service above the call of duty.

The Most Brilliant Order of the Sun second-class awardees are Minister of Home Affairs, Dr. Albert Kawana, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Loide Kasingo; and former Cabinet Ministers, Alpheus !Naruseb and Dr. Richard Kamwi.

Secretary to Cabinet, Dr. George Simataa, Executive Director in the Presidency Grace Uushona, Damaran Gaob, and Justus ||Garoeb received the Award of the Most Excellent Order of the Eagle, first class.

Law enforcement agency chiefs, Commissioner-General of Namibia Correctional Services, Raphael Hamunyela, and NamPol Inspector-General Joseph Shikongo also received the Award of the Most Excellent Order of the Eagle, first class.

Namibia's Ambassador to Ghana, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, received the Award of the Most Excellent Order of the Eagle, second class, while the recipient of the same award in third class is Major-General retired, Nestor Shalauda.
