The Affirmative Repositioning (AR) movement says the removal of the veterinary cordon fence is a top priority if voted into power.

Its leader, Job Amupanda, said this at a media briefing at Katima Mulilo.

The pest control fence, also known as the red line separating northern regions from central and southern regions, Dr. Amupanda said, continues to affect people from these regions, including Zambezi.

Their food items, such as milk, mangoes, other fruits, and meat, were confiscated at checkpoints specifically set up for this purpose.

"There's going to be an executive declaration that I'm going to appoint whoever it is that I'm going to appoint as the minister. The first thing that you're going to touch as the Minister of Agriculture, you're not going to touch anything, you're not going to focus on anything, and you're not even going to arrange familiarisation. Your first thing is to make sure that you remove the red line."

Although the removal of the red line is being fought in court, Dr. Amupanda said that there will come a time when the masses will have to be mobilised to physically remove it.

He stated that the interest regarding the red line removal from other political parties is welcome.

"Now there are a lot of other parties talking about the red line; we don't have a problem with that; in fact, we encourage everybody to join us in the fight against the red line because we already know our ideas, we are not competing; if somebody supports our initiative, they are all welcome; we encourage all those political parties to put the removal of the red line in their manifesto."

The AR leader, who was meeting with residents as part of their community engagements under the theme, Our country, Our future, Our time, called on the residents to vote the party into power in the November elections.

Some of the movement's agenda is to address challenges such as unemployment, lack of adequate green schemes, effective decentralisation, and other issues brought forward by the country's citizens.
