A nine eight members of the Namibian Defence Force will participate in the 1st International Military Sport Council Eastern and Southern Liaison Office (CISM ESALO) Quadrilateral Games in Kimberly, South Africa.
The farewell was blessed by the Deputy Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs Hilma Nikanor on Monday at the Defence Headquarters.
The four-day games started on 17 September, will bring together South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, and Namibia Defence Forces where members will participate in various sport codes such as Football, Netball, Volleyball, and Athletics.
“As you prepare to embark on this journey, I am inclined to remind you of the values that sports instill in each one of us, which are discipline, teamwork, resilience, and the spirit of fair play. These are the same values that define us as military personnel and also serve as a reflection of the strength and unity in the Namibian Defence Force” Nikanor said.
While enjoying the experience, the Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of building bonds of friendship and mutual respect.
“We look forward to welcoming you back with trophies and stories of your triumph and the memories you will create, knowing that you will represent us with honour, dignity, and excellence” she added.
