Creatives in the film industry explored ways to approach filmmaking from a business perspective. 

Some believe that the film industry in Namibia is finally being recognised as a legitimate field, and it's time to shift the perception that it cannot be pursued as a viable career.

The event provided valuable insights into various aspects of the film industry, including ways to professionalise filmmaking, establish relevant structures, and offer a clearer understanding of the industry. 

It also outlined potential pathways for emerging creatives to succeed and pursue their passion—elements that are often overlooked.

Actor Armas Shivute, a veteran in the industry, shared that the Namibian film sector has long been viewed as a joke rather than a legitimate profession contributing to the country's economy and development. 

He emphasises that it's time to change this perception and focus on growing the film industry into a successful business.

Panellist and aspiring director Tich Mupeti, who remains hopeful about the future of the film industry, expressed similar views, highlighting the importance of educating young people about the field.

The Vice Chairperson of the Filmmakers Association of Namibia, Tjuna Daringo, noted that the film industry is at a pivotal point, emphasising the necessity for improved collaboration and greater government support to strengthen and expand the sector.
