Namibia is the most competitive when it comes to logistic corridors, with cargo moving faster than in other southern African countries.
The Road Sector Policy Conference in this regard, hosted by the Road Fund Administration, aimed at addressing the need for improvement in transport infrastructure to promote economic industrialisation.
Although Namibia ranks number one in Africa when it comes to road infrastructure, there is still a need for improvement due to the growth in the transport and logistics sector.
Namibia, which aims to become a logistic hub, still requires not only improvement in roads and railways but also more warehouses and cold storage facilities throughout the country.
The CEO of Walvis Bay Corridor Group, Mbahupu Tjivikua, said that Namibia is however the most competitive when it comes to logistic corridors, with cargo moving faster than in other Southern African countries, which have multiple stoppages and checkpoints causing delays.
Namibia currently has four trade routes, which are Trans Kalahari, Walvis Bay Development, Trans Kunene, and Trans Orange Corridor.
