The Director General of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc), Stanley Similo, has underscored the importance of strengthening synergies between the head office and regional offices to drive the corporation's growth.

While addressing the staff at the nbc Keetmanshoop Contribution Centre, Similo emphasised that fostering effective collaboration between the head office and regional offices is crucial for achieving the corporation's strategic goals.

He stated, "If our collaboration from a synergetic perspective is functioning properly, there should technically not be any issues regarding our operations. Ultimately, our focus must align with where we want to be, as there is an inherent connection between our current actions and our future objectives. When this synergy is effective, we will naturally achieve national consistency and regional relevance, ensuring that our performance as a media house in this country is among the best."

Similo was accompanied by senior management members during the visit.

Chief of Technology at nbc, Tuuliki Shipanga, remarked, "We are currently engaging the Central Procurement Board for guidance on procuring services to ensure comprehensive coverage of television and radio across the country."

nbc's Head of News and Current Affairs, Peter Denk, stated, "We are committed to enhancing our coverage and raising awareness. We are focusing on areas like Lüderitz and strengthening our presence there. Our visit aims to reinforce these initiatives."

TV Operations Manager Steven Kotze said, "Live broadcasts in the regions are a priority. We are evaluating locations like Oshakati, which already has a studio, and Katima, which also has facilities."

Chief Human Resources Officer, Vezenga Kauraisa, expressed satisfaction with the current HR landscape, saying, "I am pleased that we don’t face significant HR issues unless there is conflict, which should be addressed appropriately. Overall, there are no major employment issues."

Chief Commercial Officer, Nico Mwiya, reported positive growth in revenue, noting, "In terms of our revenue stream, this is much better than compared to last year's revenue, last year we were at N$30 million, so our revenue has grown with N$7 million for this year. When we do the projection, we are very hopeful we will end up at one or three million. Remember our minimum as per the integrated static plan is 100 million."

The regional staff expressed their appreciation for the leadership's commitment and engagement during the visit.
