Zambia has recorded the first case of MPOX from a Tanzanian national in Chitambo district, Central Province.

Health Minister Elijah Muchima said a 32-year-old man was diagnosed with the viral disease after presenting symptoms at Mukando Health Post.

Dr. Muchima said the patient, who travelled from Tanzania to Zambia, reported symptoms that included muscle aches, fatigue, and a sore throat, followed by a rash on his face and body.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka, Dr. Muchima assured the public that health workers and facilities are equipped to handle MPOX cases.
