South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the death of former Minister Tito Mboweni, who passed away at 65 after a short illness. 

Mboweni, South Africa's first Minister of Labour from 1994 to 1999 and later Governor of the Reserve Bank, served as Finance Minister from 2018 to 2021. 

Ramaphosa praised Mboweni's contributions as an economic innovator and champion of labor rights, noting his vibrant personality and impact on social media. 

In a statement, President Ramaphosa extended condolences to Mboweni's family and friends, calling his passing a significant loss for the nation.
