The President of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP), Mike Kavekotora, has pledged to introduce a progressive inheritance tax of approximately 50% if elected to govern.

He made this announcement during the launch of the party's manifesto in Ongwediva.

In its manifesto, the RDP aims to lead Namibians in consolidating their hard-won independence by improving living conditions across the country.

The party plans to assemble a diverse team dedicated to transparency and democratic principles within all governance systems and institutions.

The RDP also promises equitable and fair redistribution of land as a means of livelihood for many Namibians. It seeks to pursue a constitutional amendment to benefit the population as a whole.

Kavekotora emphasized the need to reclaim the construction industry to boost local economic circulation.

"For example, the Baster community in Namibia is talented and historically contributed to building properties, houses, and hospitals. However, after independence, the industry was largely taken over by Chinese companies, which results in money flowing out of Namibia," he explained.

"If we empower local builders, their earnings will remain in Namibia, supporting our economy."

On the social front, the RDP vows to combat crime against women, children, and vulnerable populations through radical measures to curb gender-based violence.

The party also plans to review the status of State-Owned Enterprises that strain the national treasury and ensure fair distribution of resources among citizens.

Kavekotora stressed the importance of equity in resource distribution, stating.

"Currently, resources are allocated based on political affiliations rather than proportional needs. We need a system that allocates resources fairly, based on the population of each region, to ensure equity."

The RDP is committed to defending the fundamental rights and freedoms of all citizens and aims to create conditions for effective national development through a Policy on National Reconciliation.
