The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has rejected accusations of corruption in awarding the contract for producing ballot papers for the 2024 Presidential and National Assembly Elections.

The ECN labelled the claims as baseless and aimed at undermining public trust in the electoral process.

In a statement released Friday night, the ECN clarified that the contract was awarded to Ren-Form CC, a South African company, after a transparent and compliant procurement process.

The commission highlighted Ren-Form's experience, noting the company has produced ballot papers for over 70 elections in the last 20 years.

However, the ECN did not address separate allegations that Ren-Form CC is under investigation by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission for suspected misconduct.
