Villagers in Onamukulo, located in Ohangwena's Omulonga Constituency, now have access to a new police station where they can report cases and receive timely assistance. The station was built at a cost of N$6.5 million.

The prefabricated infrastructure consists, among others, of a charge office, a two-bedroom house, and nine bungalows.

There will be six officers at the station.

Inspector General of the Namibian Police, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, said, "The inauguration of this new police station marks a significant milestone in our continued efforts to bring policing services closer to our communities. It reflects the government's determination to ensure that all Namibians, regardless of where they live, have access to effective law enforcement services."

The opening of Onamukulo Police Station will enhance the police service and prompt response to crime incidents.

"The Ohangwena region, like many parts of our country, faces challenges, including cross-border crimes, housebreaking with intents to steal and theft, rape assault GBV, stock theft and theft of motor vehicles, and issues related to social ills that impact the well-being of our people. This police station will be a frontline tool in our efforts to address these challenges."

Ohangwena Governor Sebastian Ndeitunga said the inauguration of the police station will boost the region's safety and security efforts.

"Inauguration of police station demonstrates the commitment to address the need of the community and enhance the delivery of law enforcement services."
