The Founder and Council Chair of the International University of Management (IUM) says the institution has a crucial role to play in tackling unemployment in Namibia.
Professor David Namwandi said this during a graduation ceremony where three students were awarded N$150,000 towards their studies.
This financial support given to the trio who are studying at IUM, NUST, and UNAM, Professor Namwandi said, not only underscores IUM's mission to empower students but also symbolises a united front among Namibian institutions in combating joblessness.
The IUM founder called for students and universities alike to work together, pooling their knowledge and resources to foster innovation and progress that extends beyond individual campuses.
He added that in the battle against unemployment, the expansion of IUM's facilities has already created 400 jobs through the construction of new buildings.
This initiative, Namwandi said, is just one example of the university's commitment to fostering development and offering practical opportunities to address Namibia's unemployment crisis.
"When he mentions this animal called unemployment, it's a massive animal; it's a beast, an unwanted beast in our mids, and it needs to be met head-on. We need to fight this beast, and the reason why we are producing student graduates in this university is to fight this beast, unemployment."
To further demonstrate its dedication to student development, the David Namwandi Trust Fund strives to invest in educational and entrepreneurial growth.
