Information and Communication Technology Minister Emma Theofelus has called on Oshamono residents in the Ohangwena Region to go out in numbers and cast their votes in the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly Elections.

Theofelus made the plea when she addressed a belated Heroes Day at Oshamono Combined School.

She said voting is vital as it enables electorates to vote for the leaders of their choice and eventually participate in the decision-making process.

"You cannot be in a home, this Namibia house, carry a Namibian identity, and not play your part, by going to the poll on 27 November to ensure that you are forming part of the people who are electing their next government. We must not relent; it was those who were there in 1990 who went to the election and voted; had it not been for them, we would not have made the strands we made today."

She says the Swapo-led government came into power through a democratic process, and it should be given another mandate to complete the developmental projects and plans that are in the pipeline.

She gave hope to the community of Epembe Constituency, where Oshamono falls, saying it is a matter of time before they equally enjoy the fruit of independence through tangible development such as road infrastructure, network coverage, and health facilities.

"I have been to Eenhana, I have been to Endola, and I have been to many places in the Ohangwena Region, and I am now able to see that the road network leading to this school needs improvement, including the network connectivity, which I am responsible for, and therefore I would like to try my level best to ensure that is improved."

Ohangwena Governor Sebastian Ndeitunga appealed to the Namibians to maintain peace and stability.

"Instead, we must jealously guard the freedom, peace, and stability our country has enjoyed for the past 34 years of independence."

He then challenged parents and teachers to pass on the legacy of Namibian history to their children as future leaders.
