President Nangolo Mbumba has conferred an official funeral on former Member of Parliament, Lyaalala Tuhadeleni.

Tuhadeleni died on the 29th of October, aged 74.

Dr. Mbumba consoled the family and friends of Tuhadeleni, describing him as one of the sons of Namibia who fought selflessly against the colonial apartheid regime.

President Mbumba recalled that the late Tuhadeleni displayed bravery with others when they valiantly defeated the enemy at places such as Kalulu and Kwanza Sul before he was redeployed to the northern front in 1979.

The late Tuhadeleni later served as the regional chairman and organiser in Kwanza Sul, between 1986 and 1989.

After Namibia's independence, he held various portfolios in the Swapo Party, including that of Regional Mobiliser in Oshakati from 1992 to 1993 and a member of the Swapo Central Committee from 2006 to 2014.

He was also a member of the Management Committee of the Ohangwena Regional Council from 1992 to 1997 while serving as a Regional Councillor of Endola Constituency from 1992 to 2004.

The late Tuhadeleni further served as a member of the National Council from 1998 to 2004 and as advisor to Ohangwena Regional Governor from 2011 to 2014.
