The President of the National Democratic Party (NDP) has called on the Namibian nation to vote wisely to ensure that the next dispensation will be committed towards programmes aimed at promoting development and national unity.
Lukato Martin Lukato was speaking at a media conference in Katima Mulilo.
This past week was crucial for all political parties across the country, with all using the opportunity to hold road shows, star rallies, or media conferences.
NDP leader Martin Lukato told the media that he is happy with his party's campaign so far, and if elected to the National Assembly, his party will work closely with other parties to improve the lives of all Namibians.
"If the Namibian people vote us in power to become members of parliament, and then we have the power to make sure that our contribution we have to govern this country together with our colleagues and other political parties, we are not selfish people. We are not going to be in parliament to just criticise; no, we are going to be in parliament to contribute."
Lukato noted that his party has always called for progressive policies and laws on free education, the extension of the railway line from Grootfontein to the Zambezi Region, well-equipped health facilities, and ensuring that oppressive laws are repealed.
He said when elected, the NDP will lobby that the Zambezi Region be divided into two regions so that it can be better managed.
"I am going to fight for it so that the people of Zambezi should have two regions with more constituencies so that our people should get advantages and privileges to be employed."
A member of the NDP Youth League, Misheck Mutanimiye, has called on the youth to vote for the party.
"As the youth, let's take the NDP; let's vote for the NDP; let's empower our people into parliament so that these people can bring change. As much as we are going to vote for different people, we are not going to receive any development in this region."
