European Union Ambassador Ana Beatriz Martins says the EU and Namibia relations have evolved significantly over the year in a way that stimulates economic growth and creates jobs for both.

She added that relations have changed from traditional development cooperation-based dynamics to a partnership of equals based on trade, investment, and sustainable development.

Martins said this at the stakeholder workshop on findings from EU-Namibia trade relations in Windhoek.

She pointed out that the trade study showed that the EU has been one of Namibia’s most important export and import markets since 2004 and Namibia’s largest export market during the last three years.

Looking at investment, the private sector in the EU has demonstrated its commitment to Namibia through substantial investments in key sectors such as mining, renewable energy, and infrastructure, among others.

The ambassador added that they are currently planning the next EU-Namibia business forum for next year.
