The Fishrot trial has been adjourned to 4 February 2025 due to ongoing legal disputes and representation issues.

Justice Moses Chinhengo urged the accused, including former ministers Sakeus Shanghala and Bernhard Esau, to secure legal representation to ensure a fair trial.

The accused have challenged the judge's appointment, arguing it is unconstitutional, but Justice Chinhengo maintained his authority to preside unless a higher court decides otherwise.

He emphasized the need to move the trial forward, given the accused's prolonged custody of over five years, while ensuring procedural fairness.

The adjournment provides the accused additional time to address representation and prepare for plea proceedings in the high-profile corruption case.

Meanwhile, all accused and their enterprises pleaded not guilty to all charge
