During the festive season, visitors and locals from across the country make use of recreational parks to enjoy the outdoor activities with family and friends.
The City of Windhoek is making sure that the parks infrastructure is in good condition and well maintained during the festive season.
The Goreangab and Platjies Brakewater recreational parks are well-known hotspots for locals to spend time with family and friends as well as make acquaintances.
Locals would usually be setting up during the early hours of the morning or have a family member there to secure a spot, as people usually flock to these areas on Christmas and New Year's Days.
Public Relations officer at the City of Windhoek, Harold Akwenye, urged the public to refrain from vandalism, littering, and crime-related activities when visiting the facilities.
Upon nbc's visit, the parks were well maintained with fully functioning toilets as well as playgrounds for children.
The parks also have barbeque structures and seats installed, making it the perfect place for family get-togethers.
Akwenye says that City Police will be present in these areas to ensure safety, maintain peace, and hold culprits accountable for vandalism.
