The Namibia National Students Organisation (NANSO) is calling for urgent improvements in the country’s education system.

At a media briefing, the student body outlined key areas needing change, including school infrastructure, teacher training, holiday classes, and access to water, electricity, and sanitation in all schools.

NANSO has pledged to assist the government while holding it accountable. The organisation is also launching campaigns to improve access to education and repair school infrastructure, such as painting classrooms and fixing desks and chairs.

Dorthea Nangolo the NANSO President stated:

"We will not tolerate any compromise when it comes to quality education. The status quo is unacceptable, and we demand concrete results. The future of Namibia’s learners is non-negotiable."

NANSO also praised the strong academic performance of northern regions in both Ordinary and AS levels, despite challenges like inadequate infrastructure. The organisation attributed this success to discipline and strategic interventions, including mandatory study sessions, extra classes, and parent-funded holiday programs.

Given these findings, NANSO is urging increased investment in school infrastructure, teaching materials, and targeted support for struggling regions.

The organisation further welcomed the return of the third-term semester, saying it will help consolidate learners’ knowledge and improve academic performance.
