Water rationing in Gobabis continues as dam and borehole levels remain critically low, affecting supply to residents.
Gobabis Mayor Melba Tjozongoro confirmed the situation in an interview with nbc News, stating that water is available daily from 03:00 to 21:00, and residents are urged to use it sparingly.
"Especially with the dam supplying the municipality through NamWater, the water level has dropped significantly. Last year, it was at 1.1%, and now it stands at 1.3%. The Tilda Dam relies on Dam Veljoen, but the situation remains dire," Tjozongoro said.
She further warned that Gobabis currently depends on boreholes, and if rainfall remains limited, some could dry up, leaving the town in urgent need of water.
With a population exceeding 16,000, Gobabis remains heavily reliant on NamWater for its water supply.
