Erongo Region's Waldfrieden Primary School on the outskirts of Omaruru town has received a donation of N$100,000 to upgrade the school.
The money was donated by Walvis Bay-based businessman Johnny Doeseb and family.
The donation is part of giving back to the community, aimed at keeping the learners in school to be educated for the development of the country.
"Education is a tall call, and education is a shared responsibility. It requires everybody of the society to make sure that a girl child and a boy child of Namibia become educated so that they can contribute meaningfully to the upliftment of the society and to the developmental goals of our country, region, continent, and the globe. As responsible players within the sectors of the economy of Namibia, it is required of us to play our part in every little way that we can."
Doeseb called on the incoming new government to ensure that all children have access to free education, partake in activities to make them model citizens, and help with poverty eradication.
Receiving the donation, Waldfrieden Primary School Principal Alfons Kairi had this to say.
"This donation will go a long way in order to accomplish our dreams and aspirations for our school. As our vision says clearly, our vision is to allow Waldfrieden Primary School to rise to greater heights morally, ethically, and educationally. We shall fly like eagles."
Kairi says the school boasts a 94 percent pass rate for Grades 1 to 7, adding such donations push learners and motivate teachers to work harder.
The school, with a population of over 400 learners, is ranked as the second-best performer in the Omaruru Circuit.
