The government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform, plans to acquire two additional commercial farms in the Aminuis Constituency of the Omaheke Region. This decision comes in response to unfavorable weather conditions and an increasing number of livestock in the area.
Minister Carl Schlettwein disclosed this information during his visit to the Aminuis Constituency. He noted that the sporadic rainfall in the region has prompted the government to take action.
As part of this initiative, the state will acquire the two commercial farms to enhance agricultural productivity. Schlettwein also emphasized the need for more boreholes to support local crop producers.
"We are extending the communal area of Aminuis by adding two commercial farms. Before proceeding, I want to familiarize myself with the farms and the circumstances in the Aminuis area, as farmers need to transition to larger commercial spaces," he stated.
The minister also engaged with regional leaders, including the governor, to discuss various issues affecting the agricultural sector.
