Governor of the |Khomas Region, Laura McLeod Katjirua, paid tribute to the late Founding President, Dr. Sam Nujoma, at a regional memorial service held in Windhoek's Havana.

The event celebrated Dr. Nujoma's unparalleled contributions to Namibia's independence, national unity, and development.

Reflecting on his life, McLeod Katjirua traced Dr. Nujoma's journey from humble beginnings in Old Windhoek Location to his role as a freedom fighter, liberator, and Namibia's first president.

She hailed him as "the Moses of the Namibian nation" and a symbol of patriotism and unity, whose passion for national reconciliation must continue to inspire all Namibians.

"Our Founding Father's declaration of health and education as national priorities at the start of our nation-building process should serve as a continuous wake-up call; we must place education and health at the top of our priorities in all our development endeavours."

The governor further urged Namibians to remain steadfast in the pursuit of unity and progress, reaffirming that Namibia will be free forever due to sacrifices made by Nujoma and others.

She also reminded mourners of Dr. Nujoma's timeless words, "A people united striving to achieve a common good for all members of society will always emerge victorious."

McLeod Katjirua called for renewed dedication to economic emancipation, ensuring that Namibia's journey towards becoming a globally competitive, prosperous, and industrial nation with a high quality of life by Vision 2030 remains on course.
