The journey of the remains of late Founding President Dr. Sam Nujoma to the north-central regions concluded at the Andimba Toivo Ya Toivo Airport this morning.
The two regions, Omusati and Ohangwena, hosted the first and second regional memorials on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
The first being held at Etunda, his home village, and the second at Eenhana Town.
The coffin departed Eenhana at 7 a.m. Saturday en route to the Andimba Toivo Ya Toivo Airport, which is about an 80 km stretch.
Mourners living along this stretch lined up along the Oshaango, Oshigambo, Oniipa—Onethindi, and Oluno routes to witness the remains of the late leader Nujoma as they passed by.
There was a large crowd at the airport, as residents were eager to see the Founding President's remains for the final time.
There was a sense of sheer sadness as crowds inside and outside the Andimba Toivo Ya Toivo Airport watched the Namibian Air Force aircraft take off to its next destination, Rundu.
